Harley E. Wilson, DuPont retiree

Harley E. Wilson, 89, of Georgetown, peacefully passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at Delaware Veterans Home in Milford.

Harley was born and raised in Georgetown. He retired from DuPont Company, and his hobbies included collecting old tractors and antique cars, and talking on the phone. Harley proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Effie (Fleetwood) Wilson; his wife, Pearl (Terry) Wilson; and his sister, Bernice Jackson.

Harley is survived by his daughter, Maria Hammond; his son-in-law, Jerry Hammond Sr.; his grandsons, Jerry Hammond Jr. and Todd Hammond. 

During one of our last visits, he asked us to tell everyone who had visited him at Delaware Veterans Home and called him, he said, “Goodbye.” Job completed.

Services will be private. 

The family encourages in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of choice.
