Harriet E. Sechler-Chassereau, Beebe volunteer
Harriet E. (Daggett) Sechler-Chassereau, 97, of Jersey Shore, Pa., and formerly of Millsboro, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Jersey Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born March 19, 1926, in Elizabethtown, Pa., daughter of the late James and Estella (Lechner) Daggett. Harriet graduated from Elizabethtown High School and had many careers throughout her life. She enjoyed being outdoors. If she wasn’t gardening or bird-watching, she was fishing or hiking. Harriet was great at crafts, and she loved baking, sewing, crocheting and seamstress work. She enjoyed volunteering her time to help others. In Delaware, she volunteered at All Saints’ Episcopal Church and for 19 years at Beebe Medical Center.
Surviving are three daughters, Vivian M. Bullock, Deborah D. Devoe and Phoebe E. Sechler; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her furry babies, Buster, Sage and Ms. Gulliver.
Along with her parents, Harriet was also preceded in death by her husband, Chalmers Chassereau; two sons-in-law, Philip G. Bullock Jr. and Don Devoe; one brother, James R. Daggett; two sisters, Frances Hoover and Ruth M. Baker; and one infant brother.
In keeping with Harriet’s wishes, services will be private.
