Harry Fletcher Sr., veteran, firefighter
Harry Fletcher Sr., 88, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Harry was a foster child and was raised by Phil and Lena Short on a farm near Stockley. He served his country with the Army National Guard. Harry will always be remembered as a hardworking man, juggling two or three jobs at a time and supporting his family.
He was a 53-year member of Georgetown Fire Company, joining in January 1971, as well as a life member of both Delaware State Volunteer Fire Police and Sussex County Volunteer Fire Police associations.
In addition to his foster parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lee (Littleton) Fletcher.
He is survived by his children, Teresa Banos (Lou), Terrie Brown (Darryl), Virginia Fletcher (Larry), Lisa Jester (Dennis), Harry Fletcher Jr. (Michele) and Helen Fletcher; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service with full firefighter honors will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 26, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
