Helen G. Schnoebelen, dedicated community volunteer

Helen G. Ehrsam Schnoebelen passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Beebe Healthcare. She is survived by her friend and husband of 47 years, Timothy Waters of Angola. She is also survived by her sister, Connie of Cape Elisabeth, Maine; several nieces; and a nephew.

Helen was born in Alexandria, Va., and was raised in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. She was a graduate of Hood College in Frederick, Md. Helen's professional career was devoted to the field of interior design in Washington, D.C. She was employed by leading design firms and managed a fabric showroom in the Washington Design Center for 15 years. Through her involvement in the Henri Gallery, owned and operated by her mother, Helen played a significant role in the development of the Colorist School in Washington, D.C.

Helen's lifelong passion and talent were spent helping others, as well as the communities in which she lived. She relocated to Lewes in 1999 and quickly became an active member of the community. She was a founding member of the Overfalls Foundation. She also devoted large amounts of time to the Lewes Public Library, where she worked tirelessly on the annual book sale and the creation of the cookbook developed by the Friends of the Public Lewes Library. In 2012, she was recognized as the Lewes Public Library Volunteer of the Year.

In addition to her contributions to the Lewes community, Helen was an advocate for several community members who relied on her for guidance and personal assistance. Helen's passion to assist others will long be remembered by all who experienced her friendship.

As a member of the staff of The Inn at Canal Square, Helen's contributions to staff development and general operations were invaluable.

Memorial donations in memory of Helen may be made to Lewes Public Library or the Overfalls Foundation.

A celebration of her life will be held in the near future.
