Henry Hobson Hunt III, veteran, loved airplanes
Henry Hobson Hunt III, 93 of Lewes, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Dec. 11, 2023. He was born May 6, 1930, in Little Rock, Ark., son of the late Henry Hobson Jr. and Margaret (Ream) Hunt.
After graduation, Henry answered the call to serve his country and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge, his path would lead him to a career in aviation, first as a crop duster and then as a pilot for aeronautic navigation equipment sales. Henry had a passion for airplanes and later in life, he focused his impressive talents on building airplanes and rebuilding several pipe organs. He also had a love for music and played many instruments, and sang in choruses and barbershop quartets.
Henry resided in St. Croix for many years. He and his second wife, Frances E. Tobin, resided in St. Croix and then Lewes while spending summers in Westerly, R.I. His presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Henry is survived by his wife, Frances E. Tobin; his six stepchildren; his nine step-grandchildren; his 20 step-great-grandchildren; and his 10 step-great-great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife, Charlotte (Barfield) Hunt.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, at The Moorings at Lewes, 17028 Cadbury Circle., Lewes.
