After more than two decades on Route 1 at the midway point between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, the Heritage Inn & Suites will soon become Staybridge Suites.
The Heritage Inn’s Facebook page announced the change to Staybridge Suites, which is an extended-stay hotel part of the IHG company. Renovation work has been underway for some time. The announcement says the renovated hotel is scheduled to reopen in 2024.
The Heritage Inn opened in 2000. At the time, a nine-hole golf course on the other side of Postal Lane was part of the operation. The golf course was sold in 2014 and became American Classic Golf Club.
H&R Hospitality owns the property. It also owns The Inn at Lewes, which is located just up the road on Route 1 and was known as the Driftwood Motel for decades.
