H.O. Brittingham Elementary students wrapped up a month-long celebration of Black History Month Feb. 27 with an art show, presentation and assembly.
Students introduced a presentation highlighting what they learned about Africa, as well as black leaders, inventors, musicians, artists and athletes. During the month, some students visited the Harriet Tubman Museum and others enjoyed a recitation of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech by the Rev. John G. Moore Sr.
Music teacher Michelle Taylor led third-graders in a song about King, and students toured a gallery of student artwork inspired by African artists and landscapes.
Following the gallery walk, students learned about Omega Psi Phi, an international historically African-American Greek-letter fraternity, from members of its Psi Epsilon chapter in Dover.
