Long-term substitute teacher Ryann Howard earned a Going the Extra Mile Award from the Cape Henlopen school board for the month of September.
Howard is a long-term substitute with telehealth speech services, and has stepped in to give consistent, high-quality support to students, said board member Jessica Tyndall.
“It is clear that she has a natural talent for connecting with kids and is going to make a superior teacher after she graduates college,” Tyndall said during the Nov. 14 school board meeting. “Her dedication to supporting our kindergarten, fourth- and fifth-grade students during MTSS times has been invaluable.”
Tyndall said Howard provides targeted support and encouragement for students both academically and socially, and her involvement in initiatives like Girls on the Run is a testament to her passion for fostering and empowering young girls.
“Thank you, Ms. Howard, for your hard work, enthusiasm and unwavering support. We are fortunate to have you as part of our team, and we look forward to watching you continue to have an impact on our school community,” Tyndall said.
