Hudson Management and Maylon Mast purchase Sam Yoder & Son
Hudson Management of Milton, in partnership with Maylon Mast, original founder of Sam Yoder & Son Truss Co.
, have purchased the Sam Yoder company.
The company has been the largest truss manufacturer and supplier on the Delmarva Peninsula for more than 35 years. Since 1975, founders Sam Yoder and Maylon Mast have worked together to build the business with the sole purpose of providing top-quality trusses and unmatched customer service.
With the economic downturn and its effect on the housing industry, Yoder felt it was time for him to retire and sell the truss company. He was concerned about keeping the solid reputation of the company and, more importantly, the employees - many of whom have been with Sam Yoder & Son for 20 to 30 years.
That’s when Mast teamed up with Hudson Management - a family business whose roots in Sussex County go back for generations - and agreed to purchase the company. In addition to being one of the founders of Sam Yoder & Son, Mast has been integral in the company’s day-to-day operations and management for decades. Yoder felt the partnership would be a perfect fit for keeping his original vision in place while growing the company and guaranteeing its future success.
“For the folks who work here, getting Maylon back as president and owner is truly a dream come true,” said Lamar Yoder, the operating manager of Sam Yoder & Son.
Brothers Christian and Jamin Hudson of Hudson Management see this new business venture as an opportunity to invest in the people of Sussex County. “Sam Yoder & Son currently employs 45 people,” said Christian Hudson. “This keeps those jobs here instead of them being moved away. If a large corporation came in and bought the company, that might have been a different story.”
The reputation of quality workmanship and great customer service that Yoder and Mast worked tirelessly to build is one that Hudson Management is committed to preserving. “We see a great opportunity here. Sam Yoder & Son is a leader in its industry,” said Jamin Hudson. “We look forward to helping grow the company, while continuing as the leader in truss manufacturing on the Delmarva Peninsula.”
The partnership takes effect this month. For additional information or to find out more about Sam Yoder & Son, call 302-398-4711.
