Local officials joined with hospitality representatives to celebrate the grand opening of Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach at a ribbon cutting ceremony April 28.

Developed by Harvey, Hanna & Associates and operated by TKo Hospitality, the new hotel located in Five Points Square in Lewes offers a facility designed for both business travelers and families.

The 105-room, extended-stay modern hotel features all suite rooms with kitchenettes, a fitness center, dining/bar area, meeting rooms, an outdoor communal area with fire pits and gas grills, and what hospitality representatives say is Delaware’s largest indoor lap pool.

President and Chief Operating Officer Vince DiFonzo of TKo Hospitality said his company was proud to work with Harvey, Hanna & Associates to continue expanding the Hyatt House brand throughout Delmarva.

“We are experienced with managing flag hotels in the region, including many Hyatt-branded hotels,” Vince said. “We have successfully managed and operated the award-winning Hyatt Place Dewey Beach and Hyatt Place Ocean City/Oceanfront.”

Thomas J. Hanna, president of Harvey, Hanna & Associates, said after his company established the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Dewey, they committed to expanding Hyatt properties throughout the region.

“While COVID-19 disrupted the hospitality industry nationwide, we strongly believe in the fundamentals that exist within the mid-Atlantic’s drive-to resort markets,” Hanna said. “There are more than 30 million people located within a three-hour drive of the Delmarva Peninsula. We are confident in the anticipated post-COVID recovery throughout the Delmarva Peninsula, and we are positioning HHA and its partners for new challenges and greater successes.”

The hotel has partnered with Beebe Healthcare to provide lodging for travel nurses, said Vince’s son Drew DiFonzo, TKo Hospitality’s vice president of operations, and is also booking for social groups, sports teams and weddings.

Artworks adorning room and lobby walls are all custom regional scenes, Drew said, and the new hotel created 50 local jobs.

Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach is ideally situated close to all the resort activities in Lewes and Rehoboth, Drew said, as well as businesses and government offices in Georgetown.

Additional hotel amenities include free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, pet-friendly accommodations, a 24-hour market, and a “borrows menu” with often-forgotten items such as phone chargers and razors available for guest use.

A Very Important Resident program includes complimentary grocery shopping and other personalized perks for guests who plan to stay 30 or more consecutive nights.

Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach operates under the leadership of General Manager Alexandra Kennedy-Hutchison and Director of Sales Ashlee Martinelli. For more information, go to bit.ly/37RCRwJ or call 302-783-1000.
