Ida E. Ruiz, spirited, independent woman
Ida “Betty” E. (Baldo) Ruiz passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, in Lewes. She was born Oct. 2, 1925, in her parents’ home located in the Cedar Lake section of Denville, N.J. Betty enjoyed the beauty and the nature of the lake for 87 years. Betty and her husband, Manuel “Manny,” enjoyed the activities and social life the community offered.
Betty retired as a purchasing agent from the Township of Denville in 1987, after 18 years of service. She was very active with the Denville senior groups and was even president several times. She loved reading mystery books and enjoyed cruising with her friends. Betty had a passion for wildlife and nature, and loved sitting outside talking with neighbors. She adored all of her loving pets through the years. Betty was a feisty, spirited, independent woman, and will be missed.
Betty was preceded in death in 2000 by her husband Manuel Ruiz; and her son-in-law Michael Saxe in 2020. Betty is survived by her daughters, Susan E. Ruiz and Karen E. Saxe, both of Lewes. She is also survived by her nephew, George Stone and his wife Carolyn, and their son Brian, whom she adored; and her grandchildren, Scott (Robin) of Livingston, Texas, Cherin (Kim) of Weaverville, N.C., and Adam (Tina) of Savannah, Ga.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, N.J. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, 77 Deforest Ave., East Hanover, N.J.
