Irene floods Bethany

No serious injuries reported

Sections of downtown Bethany Beach experienced heavy flooding from Saturday overnight to Sunday from Hurricane Irene.

Pennsylvania Avenue was under ankle- to knee-high water from Campbell Place to Third Street, including many of the intersecting streets.

Fred Hudson Road was flooded, but remains open to traffic.

Coastal Highway north of Fred Hudson Road, including the Indian River Inlet bridge, remained closed until divers could inspect it.
