It’s all about football

December 1, 2023

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles got lucky again to beat the Buffalo Bills in a very exciting overtime game, despite the terrible weather, to improve to 10-1 on the season. If the Eagles want to have any chance to make it to the Super Bowl again this year, they have to stop sleepwalking through the first half of games as they have done constantly throughout the season so far. I don’t know how they are 10-1 despite that. It seemed like the whole team had to get used to playing in the pouring rain before doing anything offensively. If it wasn’t for Jake Elliott's great kick with 20 seconds left from 59 yards out, the Bills would have hung on for the victory.

I am worried about this week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, because it seems like some Eagles players are still angry from the 49ers’ reaction to losing the NFC Championship game last year. I hope no one gets hurt in this game because of those hard feelings.

The college football season is in the home stretch, and right now, the four teams that would make the playoffs are all undefeated so far in the season. They are two-time defending champion Georgia along with Michigan, Washington and Florida State. So if all of these teams win this weekend, this will be the playoff field. However, that is in some doubt, especially for two teams: Georgia, who has to play Alabama in the SEC Championship, and Florida State, who has to play Louisville with FSU's backup quarterback for the second straight game. I will also be paying attention to the Big Ten Championship game between Michigan and Iowa. I will be rooting for the huge upset to happen. I think it would be one of the biggest upsets in modern college football history. I don’t know how Iowa is 10-2 since their offense has struggled mightily the whole season, but you never know. Go Hawkeyes!

Good luck to the Cape Henlopen football team in the state championship against Salesianum. Until this year, the last time Cape had a won a playoff football game was 1984. The last time they were in the state championship game was 1979. Go Vikings! I hope this success becomes sustainable for years to come.
