The Tomato Festival is one of the largest Saturdays of the season for the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, as hundreds of people pass through George H.P. Smith Park to pick up their weekly produce while also getting a taste of tomato-themed creations from the Cape Region's best chefs. Fourteen of the best local chefs partnered with 14 farmers at the market to create mouth-watering bite-size dishes. The day had a little something for everyone, as children could enjoy a telling of "I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato," as read by Lewes Public Library children's librarian Jennifer Noonan, face painting, rub-on tattoos and everyone could take a stab at guessing the number of tomatoes in a cylinder.

Among the throng of visitors were Gov. John Carney and Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Ken Bounds, who stopped by the market toward the end of the day to chat with market officials and vendors.
