Jack L. Vogt, devoted Methodist

Jack L. Vogt, 84, of Lewes passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.  He was born Aug. 8, 1935 in Ada, Okla., son of the late Roy Anton Vogt and Stella George Vogt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Kathryne Mitchell; and a son, Michael Anton Vogt.

Mr. Vogt had worked for 25 years for the Department of the Army, Department of Defense and retired from the National Bureau of Standards in 1985.  Following his retirement, he owned Muse Software Company as well as owning Treasures Unlimited, where he made Methodist Cross and Flame Jewelry.  Since retiring, he has helped to raise over $250,000 for various Methodist churches located in all 50 states as well as many foreign countries.  He was a devoted member of Conley’s United Methodist Church where he had served in many church positions.  Mr. Vogt was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

His survivors include two sons, James Allen Vogt of Lewes, and Jeffrey Scott Vogt (Sandra) of Gaithersburg, Md.; five grandchildren, Amanda Vogt, Megan Vogt, Christopher Risley, Loren Mitchell, Jason Vogt and wife Erin; eight grandchildren; and his companion Patricia M. Vogt.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m., at Conley's United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyn's Way, Lewes, where friends may visit at the church beginning at 1:30 p.m.  Burial will follow the services at the Conley’s Chapel Cemetery, 22150 Robinsonville Road, Lewes.
