Jane Timmons Helm, choir director

Jane Timmons Helm, 88, of Delmar, recently of Georgetown, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Benjamin E. and Anna (Fisher) Timmons.

Mrs. Helm was a 32-year employee and union representative at the Diamond State Telephone Company. She was noted in the community for her powerful singing voice, soloing at numerous churches in the county, and at various community events. She was a choir director of many children’s choirs, starting her career at Bethel United Methodist Church in Dagsboro when she was just 18 years old. Mrs. Helm directed the Glee Group at the Georgetown Senior Center for several years.

She was also a legal assistant for 15 years after her retirement from the telephone company, enjoying working with wills and estates.

Mrs. Helm is survived by her three children: Melody (Chris) Gaidrich of Martinsburg, W.Va., Taylor B. Helm of Georgetown and Holly (David) Wilson of Laurel; her four grandchildren: Patrick (Melissa) Gaidrich of Martinsburg, Sarah Gaidrich (Patrick) Moree of Martinsburg, Lauren Wilson of Naples, Fla., and John Scott Wilson of Laurel; her three great-grandchildren: Carmine Hess, Makenna Grove and Callen Gaidrich, all of Martinsburg.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where a viewing will be one hour prior in the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Springfield Crossroads, Georgetown.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the service.
