Janet Julia Jefferson Argo, longtime bus driver

Janet Julia Jefferson Argo, 84, of Georgetown, passed away quietly Friday, Oct. 20, 2023.  

Janet was born Feb. 12, 1939, to her parents Wilhelm Johannes Rudolph and Clara (Eagen) Miller.

She was a member of The Water’s Edge Church, where she served as treasurer. Janet was employed as a bus contractor for Cape Henlopen School District for 28 years and Rite Aid Pharmacy for 17 years. She enjoyed trap shooting, camping, and spending time with her family. Janet loved her church family.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Jefferson; second husband, Eugene Argo; son, Duane Jefferson; and sister, Claire Travers.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Yvonne White (Richard); stepsons, Wayne Argo and James Argo (Randi Lynn); stepdaughter, Christie Smith (Paul); two sisters, Gwen Meinster and Carol Cugler (Clarke); five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Tuesday, Oct. 31, at The Water’s Edge Church, 13275 Reynolds Road, Milton.  A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will be held at Milton Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Janet’s memory to The Water’s Edge Church.
