Jeanette Wagner, never knew a stranger
January 22, 2024
Jeanette Wagner, 84, of Harbeson, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bud Wagner; and her parents, Helmut and Alberta Heifler Gross.
Jeanette was born in Easton, Pa., and lived her first 13 years of life in Washington, N.J., surrounded by a loving family. In 1952, her parents moved her and her sister, Elaine, to Milton, where she would attend and graduate from Milton High School in 1956. In 1957, she married Bud, her sweetheart of 65 years. They purchased their family home in 1959, where they lived, loved and raised their two children, spending many beautiful moments under the trees in their yard.
Jeanette retired in 1993 from Diamond State Telephone Company/Verizon after spending many years in both the Georgetown and Dover offices. Always busy, Jeanette worked for DelTech Adult Plus Program, Lavender Fields, and Milton Historical Society until 2019. Throughout their years together, she and Bud traveled, square danced, picnicked, and played many card and board games (Dominos, Farkle and Phase Ten), all while loving each other, their children, grandchildren, kitties, extended family and friends. Jeanette was blessed with the gift of vitality and never knew a stranger. Her life was filled and blessed with so many wonderful people, including the caregivers “our tribe” who supported and loved her for the past four years.
Jeanette is survived by her children, Sharon Mews and Jeff Wagner and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Caitlyn Mews, Riley Gianniny and Kelsey Przekora; great-grandchildren, Declan and Levi; and sister, Elaine Smith and husband Aaron.
A Memorial Service will be held at noon, Friday, Jan. 26, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton. Visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment will follow at 2 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcome to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
