Joan D. O’Connor, former Rehoboth resident
It is with great sadness that the family of Joan D. O’Connor, announced her passing Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at the age of 87 years.
Joan was born Dec. 25, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa., to John and Elizabeth (Meredith) O’Connor. As a young woman she joined the U.S. Air Force, and later retired from the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. After retirement, Joan worked for Marx Realty in New York City. She was a former resident of Rehoboth Beach, West Manhattan, New York City, N.Y., and most recently Estero, Fla.
She was sister to Catherine (Roger) Ruth, Patricia Ashton and the late Ronald (Alice) O’Connor. Joan is survived by six nieces/nephews and eight grand-nieces/nephews.
Joan's legacy continues through the J.D. O’Connor Scholarship Fund of the Delaware Community Foundation, which awards tuition assistance to young college students. At her request, no service will be held.
