Joanne L. Ray, loved the beach
Joanne L. Ray, 79, of Millsboro, passed away surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at her home.
Joanne was born Oct. 24, 1944, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Frank Casalevera and Mary (McVory) Casalevera. She had worked on the customer service side of banking before her retirement.
Joanne was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro, and part of the Columbiettes. She loved the beach, playing bingo, and was an avid fan of all the Philly teams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Ray; and a grandson, Michael Merchant. Joanne is survived by her four children, Robert T. Ray Jr. and his wife Tammy, Jody Howell and her husband John, John Paul Ray and his wife Sarah, and Peter Ray; and three grandchildren, Amber Daisey, Ella Daisey and Annemarie Ray. Joanne is also survived by her four brothers, Robert Casalevera, Skip Casalevera and his wife Cathy, Richard Casalevera and his wife Laura, and Mickey Casalevera and his wife Laura; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A prayer service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the CHEER Center or AccentCare Hospice.
