John "Jack" E. Meehan Jr., Naval shipyard retiree
Mr. John "Jack" E. Meehan Jr., 83, of Ocean View, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 in the care of his family. Jack was born Aug. 5, 1934 in Bristol, Pa., to the late John E. Meehan Sr. and Teresa Marie Mosteller Meehan.
He served in the U.S. Navy, and then retired from the Philadelphia Naval shipyard. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, visiting the beach and spending time with his family. Jack was a devoted husband, father and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine S. Meehan, in 2014 as well as a brother, Richard Meehan; and a sister-in-law, Penny Meehan.
Jack is survived by three daughters, D. Lee Wagner (Keith) of Dover, Kimberly Meehan Lindsey (Tracy) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joan M. Gordy (Wade) of Felton; and a brother, Michael Meehan (Bobbie) of Langhorn, Pa. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; as well as extended family members and numerous friends.
Inurnment will be held Friday, April 13, at 11 a.m., at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
