John Keith Hanley, veteran, loyal friend

June 18, 2024

John Keith Hanley, better known as Hanley, passed away Sunday June 9, 2024, at his home in Georgetown.

John was born Sept. 20, 1972, in Wilmington, but spent most of his adult life living in various places in Sussex County, such as Rehoboth, Dewey, Lewes, and Georgetown.  He loved living at the beach, riding his Harley, music, dancing, cooking, and creating artistic pieces of furniture and portraits. He was a loyal friend ready to help in any way for anyone at any time with a moment’s notice.

Hanley was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Debbie DiMauro Huber; his father, Mike Hanley; sister, Dawn Hanley; and his grandparents, Sebastian and Marjorie Ann DiMauro, whom he treasured for their love, nurturing, and support. He leaves to treasure his life, his brother, Michael S. DiMauro Sr.; uncle, Tommy DiMauro (Anita Truman DiMauro), uncle, Mike DiMauro (Cathy DiMauro); nephew, Andrew Hanley; niece, Kristi Lynn Schwartz; niece, Chelsea Schwartz; his many friends who were more like family; acquaintances who were really friends; and his pets, Beau and Snickers. He will be remembered in the whisper of an ocean breeze, the call of a snowcapped mountain in Tahoe, and of course, the snap of a Miller Light. He will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be scheduled in the near future.

Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
