John Wesley Johnson, devoted to family, friends
John Wesley Johnson, 61, arrived at heaven's gates Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022. He was born Aug. 12, 1961, in Seaford, son of the late Myers R. Johnson Sr. and Esther Ann (King) Lee.
Jack is best known as the husband, the father, the brother, the uncle, and the friend who could be counted on. He was incredibly talented, with hobbies including hunting, fishing, software, electronics and painting. He was a perfectly imperfect man who everyone wanted to make proud. He was the glue to his large family for a long time. His happiest moments were spent by his wife’s side as their family filled their home for special gatherings. His passion for football made each Sunday exciting for everyone who cheered for the Ravens with him.
Jack loved everyone the best way he knew how, and he did it fiercely. He opened his arms several times to his family and friends when they needed a home. Jack left this earth too soon. His laughter, his knowledge, his cooking, his endless puns and “Dad jokes,” his comfort and security will be greatly missed. However, his spirit will be felt every day as his life was spent gifting all who knew him with pieces of it.
Preceded in death, he was greeted by our angels: his sister Sherry German; his father Myers Ronald Johnson Sr., and his brother Myers Ronald Johnson Jr. (Ronnie). John (Jack) is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Julie Johnson; his mother, Esther Lee; his daughters, Nancy Mathis and Christina Spanos; and his seven grandchildren. Jack is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl Edwards and Suzette Donovan; eight nephews and nieces, and many great-nephews and -nieces.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may call beginning at 2 p.m.
