Jonathan Barrett Eschbach, avid fisherman, outdoorsman

Jonathan "Jon” Barrett Eschbach, 45, of Millsboro, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born on July 27, 1977, in Pottstown, Pa., son of Jean E. (Barrett) and the late Leo Harvey Eschbach Sr.

Jon was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who enjoyed all activities the ocean and local bays provided. As a Delmarva resident for 15 years, Jon imersed himself in the local culture. Beyond his love of water, Jon was a skilled golfer who pursued a passion and studied to become a golf professional early in his career. His abilities also included those of an exceptional artist with a remarkable drawing skill who later focused his considerable artistic talents on welding metal sculptures. Jon was a proud and devoted member of Long Neck Amvets of Millsboro and the American Legion in Pottstown, Pa.

Jon embraced all times spent with his beloved family and friends but especially cherished his time with his nieces, nephews (known as Uncle Stunkle to the young ones), and Triscuit, his adored pig. Loved by many, he will be forever missed.

Jon is survived by his beloved brother, Dr. Leo Harvey Eschbach Jr. (Maureen) of Lewes; his beloved sister, Celeste Eschbach Paris (Simon) of Collegeville, Pa.; his nephews: Jordan, Julian and Jayden Paris of Collegeville, and Barrett Eschbach of Lewes; his nieces, Savana Paris of Collegeville and Vivianne Eschbach of Lewes; and his cousins, Rudolph and Agnes Panko of Lancaster, Pa.

Final care for Jon has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
