In fall 1988, Milly (Josephine Keir) and Huno Pedersen, with twins Gordon and Maggie, moved to Lewes on a full-time basis. After renovating the Old Firehouse and jail prior to the permanent move from College Park, Md., they opened a fine art and antiques business in the firehouse which would later offer unique artisan-made carpets as well. The current location at 102 Savannah Road in the Graves building is the fifth location in 25 years.
The end of 2013 will see a second location opening in Milford in the historic business district on 27 South Walnut St. That building is under renovation and has historic meaning for the city, dating back to the 1860s. This is a building headed back to its roots. The Milford store will be filled with fine home furnishings, a design center, a fine art gallery and a selection of Oriental, tribal and contemporary carpets.
Since the anticipated opening of the second store is behind schedule, Josephine Keir Ltd. At Home will end the year with a 25th anniversary sale lasting until Dec. 31. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Nov. 22 to mark the anniversary.
