Joynt Physical Therapy opens in Long Neck

Peden returns to area he knows well
November 2, 2021

Joynt Physical Therapy owner Bryan Peden knows the Long Neck area very well.

He spent the better part of six years working as a physical therapist at Pivot PT in Long Neck before devoting the last year to learning the ropes at a smaller clinic in Dover.

Now, he’s returned to Long Neck to open his own clinic, Joynt Physical Therapy, on Route 24 in Trading Post Plaza.

“I’m just excited to get back to where I spent the majority of my career and treat the people I’ve been helping out the last six years prior,” said Peden the day before the Oct. 29 opening. “This area is quickly growing with a lot of people who can use our services. My ultimate goal is that people will not need our services. We want to teach them how to manage their symptoms and only come to us if they really need it.” Peden earned his undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees from Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. He then spent a year in King of Prussia, Pa., where he worked in a position that allowed him to experience outpatient, hospital and skilled nursing facility settings.

“That’s where I developed my passion for outpatient services,” he said.

Since 2020, Peden worked at Edelman Spine & Orthopaedic Physical Therapy in Dover. He said the experience helped him learn how a smaller solo clinic operates.

Peden’s new 3,200-square-foot clinic features four private treatment rooms. In addition to the equipment found in most clinics, Peden has also added an indoor golf net and a squat rack.

“One of the primary goals for a lot of the people I’ve treated is to get back to playing nine holes or 18 holes,” he said. “Sometimes testing out how they’re feeling can be time-consuming and expensive, so having this net gives us the opportunity to test pre- and post-treatment.”

The purpose of the squat rack is strengthening and treating low-back pain, hips and knees and just working on proper squatting mechanics.

“It’s a good activity for daily living,” he said. “Too many people don’t know how to squat appropriately and hurt themselves, especially during gardening season or spring cleaning.”

Peden, a 2006 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, also offers dry needling and cupping.

As of now, Peden is the only physical therapist on staff, but he said he hopes to grow with the community.

Joynt Physical Therapy, 31507 Oak Orchard Road in Millsboro, is open Monday through Friday, and Saturday by appointment. For more information, go to joyntphysicaltherapy.com or call 302-648-3360.
