Judith Ann Arning, attentive caregiver
Judith Ann Arning, 66, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare. She was born Saturday, May 19, 1951, in Asheville, N.C., daughter of the late Louis and Margaret Arning.
Ms. Arning earned bachelor’s degrees from both Brandywine College and Radford College, after which she enjoyed a career with the DuPont Chemical Company as an engineer. Ms. Arning's interests were many and varied. She liked playing golf and was an accomplished field hockey player, in addition to being a member of the Bell Choir as a tenor singer, CHEER Harbor Lights president, and an attentive caregiver. Above all, Ms. Arning was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Arning was preceded in death by her twin sister, JoAnn Martin in 2012. She is survived by her wife, Mildred McCafferty; Jennie E. Martin, Judith Ann “Meg” Martin-Grey, Grady Allen Martin, and Yates Martin.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 13, at noon, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Ms. Arning's memory to the National Kidney Foundation Inc., 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, or the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 Dupont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
