Judith Lee Drews, devoted to family
Judith Lee Murphy Drews, 80, of Lewes passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 15, 2023. She was born June 27, 1943, to the late Roland W. and Arlene F. Murphy (Guilford) of Wareham, Mass.
Growing up in Wareham, Judith graduated from Wareham High School in 1961. Moving to Maryland, Judy received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Maryland as well as a master of science degree from Johns Hopkins University. She loved helping people, and her career took her to the Adventist Health System in Maryland, working as a critical care nurse.
Judy was devoted to her family; it was everything to her, making birthdays and holidays special. But Judy’s Massachusetts roots always called her home, and she spent many vacations visiting her brother and having afternoon tea after a shopping trip with her sister. Judy’s love for dancing, specifically tap dancing, always kept her moving, except in her quiet times you could catch her crafting or with a book in her hand, as she an avid reader.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Richard W. Drews of Lewes; her two sons, Richard W. Drews Jr. (Jean Owens) of Baltimore, Md., and Patrick T. Drews (Christina Leonard) of Catonsville, Md.; and one daughter, Cynthia Drews Cinnamon (Scott) of Millsboro. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Delaney Cinnamon, and Aidan and Evan Drews; brother Rollie (Kathy Murphy) of Wareham, sister Carole Sgroi (Ron) of South Chatham, Mass.; and numerous nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Chapman Funerals, Wareham, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association of America, act.alz.org.
