Julia Morris, faithful church member
Julia Morris, 105, of Lewes, departed this life Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at Cadia Healthcare Renaissance in Millsboro. Born in Girdletree, Md., she was the daughter of the late Romy Fauntleroy and Ada Bishop Douglas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Morris.
Mrs. Morris was a member of Burton Chapel AME Church in Milton, where she served as a missionary and choir member. She was a founding member of Christ Church in Harbeson.
Prior to retiring, she was a manager at Thunderbird Shop in Rehoboth Beach.
She will be lovingly remembered by one daughter, Shuna Harmon; one sister, Delores Walters; two sisters-in-law, Vera Morris and Alberta Morris; three special nieces, Annie Custis, Teresa Demby and Teresa Jones; a special nephew, Elmer "Pete" Norwood; special friends, Ann Carter and Joan Winchester; one grandchild, Talon Foreman; and other nieces, nephews, relatives, in-laws and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Beckett, Samuel Wharton and Jesse Douglas; and sisters, Lucilia Brown and Lorraine Bosewell.
Mrs. Morris will lie in repose from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery, 20583 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson.
