Jumpin’ Johnny Sansone will bring his award-winning brand of New Orleans blues to Rehoboth Beach at 7 p.m., Friday, July 21, with a performance at Thompson Island Brewing Company. Sansone combines blues, boogie, and the front-porch Cajun and Zydeco sounds of the Louisiana bayou country for an amazing show.
Sansone started his career early when his father, a sax player in Dave Brubeck's band, introduced him to the saxophone at age 8. He picked up the harmonica and guitar by the time he was 10. Living in New Orleans, Sansone started playing accordion in addition to developing his prowess on harmonica and guitar. Johnny had a life-changing experience at the age of 12 when he saw a Howlin' Wolf show in Florida. That's when he knew he was destined to play the blues as his lifetime vocation.
He will also be presenting songs from his newest CD, “Into Your Blues,” which has been two years in the making. For those who have attended the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Sansone is always showcased as one of New Orleans’ most coveted musicians. He has not visited the Cape Region since Sydney's Blues and Jazz Restaurant in downtown Rehoboth Beach was sold more than 12 years ago.
Sansone is returning to the United States after a very successful world tour and is looking forward to being back in this area once again for a rare, acoustic, one-night only performance July 21 at Thompson Island. There is no admission charge for this show.
