June Irene Kohler, enjoyed her family
June Irene (Zimmerman) Kohler, 95, of Millsboro passed peacefully Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born June 13, 1928, in Pine Grove, Pa., one of six children of the late Harry A. and Ruth (Strausser) Zimmerman Lehman.
She previously resided in Pottstown, Pa., before moving to Delaware years ago. She was an experienced seamstress for many years and later became a small business owner with her husband Joseph of Kohler's Marine and Kohler’s Amoco in Long Neck. After retirement, they both enjoyed a quiet lifestyle, playing golf and other hobbies, but enjoyed family the most. She will be remembered for her kind heart, strong work ethic and nurturing of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Robert Kohler; son Joseph R. Kohler Jr.; (infant) brothers Allen, Dean, Dennis and Larry Zimmerman; and great-granddaughter Carol Dodd (infant).
She is survived by a sister, Donna Zimmerman Hommel of Milton, Pa.; daughters Judith Messick of Millsboro and Patricia Briggs Towers (Kenneth) of Georgetown; grandchildren Denise Whitman (Richard Jenny) and Troy Messick (Belinda) of Millsboro, Michelle Briggs Simpson (Charles), Lewis W. Briggs III (Danielle) and Michael Briggs, all of Georgetown; 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Over time, she rediscovered love and enjoyed the companionship of Carl Balster of Salisbury, Md., where she resided for over 20 years, enjoying many new adventures that brought her much joy and happiness. Interment will be Tuesday, May 28, at Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown, Pa. Burial is private.
