Kammerer voted Best Philanthropist in Sussex County
Scott Kammerer, CEO of SoDel Concepts, was recently voted Best Businessman and Best Philanthropist in Sussex County by the readers of Coastal Style magazine. The SoDel family of companies includes Southern Delaware Brewing, Highwater Management, Surf Bagel and SoDel Concepts.
Kammerer founded SoDel Cares in 2015 to honor his mentor, Matt Haley. It is a nonprofit charitable organization that raises funds for causes that benefit children, at-risk youth, adults reentering society from the prison system and the elderly who need assistance. Kammerer also donates his time to the local community and loves to stay involved with local sports teams. He can often be found commentating at a high-school football game or on the sidelines of a wrestling match as a volunteer coach.
Kammerer has received many state and regional recognitions, including the Delaware Restaurant Association’s 2016 Cornerstone Award and the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Award. He recently was named one of the most influential CEOs in the country on the Nation’s Restaurant News list.
“I am always honored to be recognized,” he said. “It is really a testament to the hard work of our employees and the generosity of our local communities.”
A New Jersey native, Kammerer started out in the Delaware hospitality industry in 1992 as a dishwasher in Rehoboth Beach. By 1996, he was the general manager of a popular seafood restaurant, and he is now one of the most successful restaurant developers in the history of Delaware. Kammerer and his wife Lisa live in Rehoboth and have three sons. He credits his success to his 28 years of sobriety.
