Kathryn Ann Cholak, devoted to family

January 20, 2025

Kathryn “Kathy” Ann Cholak, 69, of Bowie, Md., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024. Born Oct. 11, 1955, in Canonsburg, Pa., Kathryn was a source of endless kindness, warmth, and devotion to her family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Kathryn was the loving wife of Phillip Cholak Sr., with whom she shared more than 45 years of marriage. Kathryn was also a stay-at-home mother, a caregiver, and a nurturer, who raised their three children, Phillip Jr., Amanda, and Christopher, with incredible love, patience, and dedication. She poured her heart into her family, always putting her children’s needs first. Her love for them was unwavering, and she was their guiding light through every stage of their lives. Her granddaughter, Cassie, who affectionately referred to her as G-Ma, cherished every moment with her.

After focusing on raising her children, Kathryn followed her passion for helping others, starting her career as a nurse, which she found deeply fulfilling. She touched the lives of many, offering care and compassion to all her patients.

In retirement, Kathryn and her husband, Phillip, moved to Lewes, where they enjoyed life by the coast, spending time with family and friends.

Kathryn was known by all for her infectious personality and warmth. She could light up any room with her humor and the love she had for people. She was also widely known for her gift of gab, always ready to engage in conversation, share stories, and make everyone around her feel welcome and special. Her genuine interest in others and her ability to connect with people left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Kathryn’s life was a true testament to love, strength, and selflessness. Raising her children and being a grandmother was her greatest joy, and she gave them all of herself. Her legacy of compassion, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Kathryn is survived by her loving husband, Phillip Cholak Sr.; her children, Phillip Jr., Amanda and Christopher; one granddaughter, Cassie Danz; her beloved brothers, James Mason Jr. and Robert Mason; and many nephews and nieces, who were blessed by her love.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Dorothy Mason.

Though we will miss Kathryn deeply, we take comfort in the love and laughter she shared with all of us. Her spirit will continue to inspire, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 1, at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Robert S. Crain Hwy., Bowie, Md.
