Keith Mack, Johnny Neal and Ed Shockley to unite for three nights of music at Casa DiLeo Oct. 18-20
Keith Mack, Johnny Neel and Ed Shockley unite for three nights of music Thursday, Friday and Saturday Oct 18-20. Three of the best known names in the Delaware music scene will be performing at Casa DiLeo as part of the 25th Anniversary of The Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival.
In the early 80s after their individual bands - Jack of Diamonds, The Johnny Neel Band and Eighth Day - broke up, these three Delaware natives left for the bright lights and big cities. Mack landed in New York City and soon was in the band Scandal, recording gold and platinum selling records followed by TV appearances and world touring.
Neel headed for Nashville where he was soon the talk of the town with his famous Blue Mondays at the Bluebird. He was recruited to help re-ignite the Allman Brothers Band and helped them write and record what became their comeback Grammy award-winning album.
Shockley was the last to leave home. He moved to Manhattan and was signed to a record deal with RCA and recorded on scores of albums, making TV and stage appearances along the way. In addition to stage performances, Shockley’s voice was used on several national TV and radio ads.
Currently, the trio is pursuing promoting their own original music while simultaneously playing with other bands. Mack just finished a world tour with Cyndi Lauper and recently released “The Moment,” his newest CD, where for the first time he is singing his own songs.
Neal keeps busy producing artists at his Studio Up recording studio in Nashville. He is also promoting his latest CD, “Every Kind Of Blues,” and is touring around the U.S. and Europe. Shockley plays locally with several bands like The Funsters, The Shockley Bothers, and Big Hat No Cattle. He is gearing up for the release of “When Comes This Time of the Year,” the newest CD from the gospel roots trio The Reminders, and also has released his fourth solo CD, “Vinyl Covers,” with his band Vinyl Shockley.
There are many years of friendship, brotherhood and music between the three. When the rare opportunity arises for these three to come together and share their music, it is well worth it to be on hand to experience this musical reunion of three very talented souls.
