Love Creek Elementary kindergarten immersion teacher Deborah Garcia was honored Nov. 14 with the Cape Henlopen School District Going the Extra Mile Award.
Board member Jason Bradley said Garcia has unwavering commitment and dedication as a kindergarten immersion teacher.
“Deborah embodies what it means to go above and beyond for her students, colleagues and school community, consistently demonstrating an exceptional level of care, resilience and professionalism,” Bradley said during the school board meeting Nov. 14. “Deborah’s dedication is evident in her countless late nights, staying after hours to plan engaging lessons and prepare her classroom to give her students the best possible start.”
Bradley said Garcia worked to help create an ofrenda for the school to honor and celebrate cultural traditions. She also helped support the school’s first immersion concert, ensuring a memorable experience for students and families alike.
“In every situation, Deborah brings a calm and steady presence, guiding her young learners with patience and positivity. Her ability to provide stability and encouragement has made her a pillar of support within our school community. She is truly the calm in the storm, and her dedication inspires both her students and her colleagues to rise to every challenge,” Bradley said. “I am incredibly grateful to have Deborah as part of our team at Love Creek Elementary, and it is an honor to acknowledge her for always going the extra mile.”
