KINfolk is hosting Casino Night Nov. 3

KINfolk is having its third annual Casino Night Friday, Nov. 3, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Fairfield Inn, 19113 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth. Admission starts at $35. Come play (or learn to play) blackjack, roulette and craps. Grotto Catering will lend its legendary taste to the event.

"KINfolk is fortunate to enjoy the support of the Sussex community, and this event will be no exception. Gamblers, nongamblers and those who just want to support this terrific charity will share in the fun," said Melinda McGuigan, former Kinfolk executive director.

Come, bring friends and have fun while supporting the charity that does so much to support kids in Sussex County. Spend winnings at a special auction, and grab a bargain at the silent auction.

KINfolk provides free laptop computers and internet access to children who are hospitalized or homebound with serious illness or injury. KINfolk was founded in Sussex County to help end the isolation, depression and boredom of these hospitalized children. Every Sussex County child who requires more than minimal hospital care goes hours away, to A.I. DuPont Hospital or another facility.

KINfolk helps these children receive get-well notes from their friends and continue their schoolwork, and it allows parents to telecommute while remaining with their child.

Many Sussex Countians have benefited from the good work that KINfolk does, like the Lewes mom whose baby was born prematurely in Nevada. KINfolk provided a computer, allowing her to remain for several months at her daughter's side until she was well enough to travel home. Or, like a young Seaford girl battling cancer, surgeries and chemotherapy, glad to have KINfolk's computer by her side while she was in and out of the hospital. Every story is unique, but the need is constant.
