Land Group brokerage and consultant opens on Delmarva

November 25, 2019

The Land Group, founded by Ben Alder, has opened its doors in Salisbury, Md.

Providing land brokerage and consulting services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, the Land Group represents the largest portfolio of land available for purchase in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, totaling approximately 30,000 acres.

The Land Group team members hold expertise in land management, timberland, agriculture, conservation and land development. While land brokerage services are the pillar of TLG’s business, advisors provide consulting services on a regular basis for clients seeking guidance on how to best manage their land assets, both ecologically and financially.

“As a biologist by training and at heart, I have always worked to help clients make sound choices about the economics of their land investments,” said Alder.

The Delmarva Peninsula is served by five team members: Ben Alder, partners Nick Campanaro and Doug Williams, and land advisors Sue Hudson and Beth Hill. Amy Sorg serves as the backbone to the operation in her coordinator role from the Land Group office in downtown Salisbury.

Alder has spent his career working with land and, since 1997, his work has focused around land-use decisions relating to agriculture, forestry, natural resources and most recently, renewable energy projects. To date, Alder has closed over $200 million in land through the transfer of more than 40,000 acres.

Campanaro has been working alongside Alder since 2013. He has a strong background in economics and analytical skills, and handles systems development and implementation, lead generation, GIS services and outreach for the team.

Williams spent over 26 years in the land surveying field before his transition to land brokerage. He has served as lead surveyor for a variety of projects for The Land Group. As an avid outdoorsman, Williams has a thorough understanding of wildlife habitat, state hunting regulations, and managing property for wildlife and recreation.

“TLG never would have happened without my partnership with Nick and Doug,” said Alder. “Together we have built a company that adds value to our clients by understanding how land value and land use are intertwined.”
