Laverne D. Hall, had adventurous spirit
Laverne D. Hall passed peacefully in her sleep the morning of Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024. Laverne's journey began in Frankford, where she was born at home as the third child to Roland Wescott Sr. and Edith I. Wescott. Laverne’s father preceded her in death.
Laverne's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Delaware's public schools, where she attended Frankford Elementary and later graduated from Indian River High School in 1977. Her adventurous spirit led her to Easley, S.C., where she embraced various employment opportunities, including a notable position at Clemson University.
In October 2017, Laverne faced a serious health challenge that brought her back to Delaware. She found solace and care in the loving arms of her sister, Gale M. Briddell, in Georgetown, who stood by her side as her devoted caretaker until her last breath. She enjoyed planting flowers, cooking, riding with her sister, and attending the day program at Easterseals in Georgetown. A special thank you to Easterseals and their wonderful staff who provided Laverne with a safe, caring, supportive, fun and social environment through their program.
Laverne's legacy lives on through her cherished family. She is survived by her son, William L. Wescott of Dover; and her daughter, Mellisa A. Hall of Easley, S.C. She leaves behind her beloved mother, Edith I. Wescott of Seaford; her brothers, Roland Wescott Jr. of Pocomoke City, Md., Sherwood R. Wescott (Krisz) of Parsonsburg, Md., and Edward Wescott (Miriam) of Georgetown; along with her sisters, Gale M. Briddell of Georgetown, and Zina Y. Bourne of Hinesville, Ga. Laverne's joy was multiplied by her five grandchildren, Anfernee, Sheyenne, Shyhiem, Arshari and Amir; six great-grandchildren, Amar, Ayden, Adrian, Azrielle, Aron and Azalea; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom will miss her dearly.
Laverne's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit and love will forever remain a guiding light in their lives.
