Lawrence David Tobin Jr., proud veteran
Lawrence “Larry” David Tobin, Jr., 75, of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in Wilmington.
He was born July 6, 1947, in Wilmington. Larry lived a full life, largely spent alongside the love of his life, his wife of 51 years, Sally (Bogia) Tobin.
Larry was always grateful for the honor to serve his country, serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on board the USS Bonhomme Richard.
Throughout his life and during retirement in Rehoboth Beach, he was known for his love and knowledge of classic cars. If anyone couldn’t find Larry, they knew to look no further than his garage, where he would be working on his latest project.
In addition to his wife, Larry’s legacy is carried on in his two sons, Travis (Tammy) and Craig (Nicole); his grandchildren, James, Liam, Finn, Connor, Elijah and Julian; his great-grandchild, Grace; and a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Ray Alexander.
Larry is preceded in death by his father Lawrence David Tobin Sr.; and his mother Mildred Roehm.
A viewing will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 401 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. A committal service will be held at 2 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
