Lefty’s hosts nonprofits for Giving Tuesday
On Giving Tuesday, Lefty's Alley & Eats held a special event that brought together 10 nonprofit organizations, and their volunteers and representatives.
To be a part of the celebration, local nonprofits within a 30-mile radius were nominated and encouraged to apply. Each applicant shared, in 500 words or less, why their chosen nonprofit deserved to be included. The evening was filled with a buffet of food and attractions for all to enjoy. A generous $500 donation was made to each organization.
Lefty's Alley & Eats received more than 600 submissions, choosing 10 organizations that have made a significant impact on their communities in various ways. Giving Tuesday is a day to promote generosity and support for causes and communities people care about.
"At Lefty's, community has always been at the heart of what we do. Therefore, we are honored to recognize the local nonprofit organizations in our area that have made a significant impact on our community in various ways," said Gary Foley, Lefty's general manager. The 10 nonprofits selected were Community Resource Center, Lewes Historical Society, SNAC Garden Foundation, the ARK Educational Resource Center, Milford Advocacy for the Homeless, I Support the Girls - Delaware, We Stand for Something Inc., Indian River Senior Center, Milton Theatre and Grass Roots Rescue.
The winning nonprofits were announced Nov. 20 and festivities took place Nov. 28 in the Spare Room at Lefty's.
