Leonard A. Vito, wine enthusiast, friend

Leonard A. Vito, 75, of Lewes, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Len was born in 1949 in Weehawken, N.J., son of the late Leonard A. Vito Sr. and Ann Sorrtino Vito. He graduated from Matawan High School in New Jersey in 1967 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass., in 1972.

Len started his career in insurance sales. He then followed his passion as a wine enthusiast until he retired. He was a founding member of the Wine with Friends Meet Up Group and a member of Lewes Craft Beer Meet Up Group. He loved visiting the Delmarva shorebirds and was a member of local bird-watching groups. He loved baseball games and enjoyed watching his Mets and Giants sports teams.

He is survived by his niece, Healey A. Stepanic (Michael J.) of Hockessin; his brother-in-law, Rich R. Masi of Lewes; his great-niece, Jordan R. Stepanic; and great-nephew, Tanner M. Stepanic of Hockessin.

Leonard has participated in the University of Delaware’s Anatomical Gift Program.

A celebration of his life will be scheduled for a later date in Sussex County.
