Leslie Jane Wardell, loved life and her sons

October 14, 2016

On Oct. 10, 2016, Leslie Jane Wardell (née Hugel) of Dagsboro, was reunited with her beloved late husband James Sanders.

As a single mother who raised two Eagle Scouts, she was proud of her sons, and did everything in her power to furnish them with opportunities. She indulged and embraced their interests from the 60s band Grateful Dead (Zak) to the Rocky Horror Picture Show (Gabe).

Leslie had a joie de vivre that included a passion for food. She adored discovering new recipes, shopping for fresh and unique ingredients, and she lived for the collective experience of preparing a feast for a gathering of family and friends. She loved to laugh and share good times with everyone around her.

Leslie was the devoted mother of Zak and his wife Tessa, and Gabe and his wife Trin. She was a doting mema to her grandchildren Gustav and Greta; a dear sister to David and his wife Susan; and a loving aunt to Margie, Jeffrey, Paul, Tommy, John, and Robe. Leslie is also survived by her three cats; Beau, Mouse, and Lulu, who miss her dearly.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to everyone who cared for her in her final days. In honor of the angels from Delaware Hospice, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice at www.delawarehospice.org/donate-now.

A memorial service will be held in Baltimore in November. Details will be announced on Facebook.

Electronic Condolences may be made thru watsonfh.com.
