Levi Robert Smith, City of Rehoboth retiree

Levi Robert Smith, 69, of Millsboro, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023.

Levi was born in Lewes July 24, 1954, to the late Henry T. Smith Sr. and Hilda L. Collins Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith; a brother, Walzo Smith; a brother-in-law, James Finney Sr., and two nephews, Ronnie Collins and James Finney Jr.

He retired from the City of Rehoboth, where he worked in the wastewater treatment facility for his whole working career. Levi was a member of Storm Shelter Ministry in Laurel.  He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, watching westerns and wrestling, attending stock car races in Delmar, and liked antique cars. He could dance and his favorite was disco. Levi will be remembered for his kind heart and willingness to always lend a hand. His family meant everything to him, especially his nieces and nephews.

Levi is survived by five siblings, Shirley E. Smith (Ricky Hicks) of Millsboro, Edna L. Smith (Martin) of Frankford, Sarah C. Mifflin of Millsboro, Ethel A. Finney of Millsboro, and Henry T. Smith Jr. (Mary) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three stepchildren Pam, Bartley and Alonzo.  He was also blessed with nieces and nephews, Delia Hall (Tim), Jacqueline Hudson (William), Darrus Finney, Chantel Smith, Gary Smith, Michael Smith, Katrina Parker, Donta Smith, Tameka McAllister (Leroy), Deshawn Smith (Kathy), Christopher Smith, Latanya Smith, Latasha Bratton (Pervis), Lorenzo West (Shelly) and Robert West (Robin); as well as a host of great*nieces, -nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at the St. John Second Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Rd., Millsboro, where the viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m.

Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
