Lewes has lost a great leader in Becker

October 11, 2024

Lewes has lost a great leader with Ted Becker’s passing. In so many ways and for so many years, he guided our town in both pragmatic and visionary ways. Unlike others, he had a gift for getting things done, a special way of working with local, county and state officials to achieve our collective goals. At a time when the idea seems antiquated, Ted was civic-minded in an authentic sense. Some took exception to his views on this or that matter, but when one steps back and considers the accomplishments of the full measure of the man, his legacy is a proud one. In the weeks and months ahead, let us explore creative and meaningful ways to honor and preserve his memory. Meanwhile, while the flags fly at half-staff, and our hearts are heavy, we extend our deepest condolences to Ted’s life partner, Joe Stewart.
