Lewes legion auxiliary attends Army National Guard unit homecoming

February 10, 2024

Very early on a bright Sunday morning, Feb. 4, members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 of Lewes made their way to New Castle to attend the homecoming of Delaware Army National Guard Unit 160 EVCC.

One auxiliary member was proud to welcome her son home from a recent deployment overseas.

Unit 17 provided support to this group during its deployment by sending necessities including strong sunscreen, hats, socks and other items they requested. Members were proud to welcome home this large group of men and women from a successful mission. Unit 17 distributed pocket flags to the returning soldiers. These flags are usually carried in the soldier's pocket, so while they are deployed they carry a piece of home with them. Included with the flags are special notes written by students at Love Creek Elementary School.
