Lewes library StoryWalk returns for third summer
The Lewes Public Library, in partnership with Lewes in Bloom, has installed a StoryWalk for the third summer in a row.
For a StoryWalk, the pages of a picture book are mounted on signs installed along a walking path, so families can enjoy a physical activity outside while also engaging in a book.
“We’re so glad outdoor restrictions lifted so that we could install the StoryWalk again this year,” said Jennifer Noonan, children’s librarian at the Lewes library. “It’s a wonderful activity for families to take part in, especially since so many other summer camps and activities are still restricted.”
Even though the library is not open to visitors, patrons can still access the StoryWalk. It starts on the children’s wing patio, which is open to the public. The walk takes readers through Stango Park near the library, and returns them to the park area that faces the library on the other side of the bike path.
Those who would like an extra activity while doing the StoryWalk may download a scavenger hunt from the library website, www.lewes.lib.de.us. Those submitting their finished scavenger hunts via email to leweslibrarykids@gmail.com will be entered into a raffle to win a prize pack which includes a book tote, a lanyard for a library card, and a $5 gift certificate to the Friends of Lewes Library book shop, which can be redeemed once the library and shop reopen.
