August 29, 2020

Lewes Mayor Ted Becker helped to raise the Suffragette Flag outside city hall on Women’s Equality Day Aug. 26 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of voting rights for women.

The flag was donated to the city by the GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club and the Col. David Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Becker read a proclamation in support of the GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club celebration of this historic event.

The flag will stay up until Wednesday, Sept. 9, ahead of the 2020 Chautauqua event with the theme “Women’s work:  Campaigning for Social Change,” which will be held Sept. 10-11.
