Work is underway to repave the secondary public parking lot at Lewes Beach.
Ann Marie Townshend said A-Del began work began March 19, and it is expected to be complete by Memorial Day.
The project budget is $219,000, including $85,000 from the city’s capital projects fund, $70,000 from Municipal Street Aid and $35,000 of Community Transportation Fund money from Sen. Ernie Lopez.
The Lewes Board of Public Works is taking advantage of the ripped up surface to abandon a water line that runs to the lot from the main beach parking lot and install a new water line from Cape Henlopen Drive. The cost of the BPW portion is $100,000.
