Linda Bernice Collins, cared for others
Linda Bernice (Purnell) Collins was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 20, 2024. She was born Feb. 20, 1949, in Whaleyville, Md., daughter of the late Clarence and Leatta Tingle.
Linda attended William C. Jason High School in Georgetown. She was married to the late Charles Collins Jr. for 23 years. She enjoyed traveling and taking road trips with her beloved husband. Linda loved her family, and had a big and caring heart for people. She enjoyed entertaining friends and would always leave you laughing at her funny words and actions.
Linda was known for her unwavering loyalty to the Philadelphia Eagles. Her enthusiasm for the team was infectious, and she brought joy to countless friends and family members through her passion for sports.
Linda dedicated many years of her life to caring for others. She was employed by Stockley Center in Millsboro, and later as an independent caregiver, leaving a legacy of compassion and kindness.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Michael Purnell of Millsboro; two brothers, James Purnell (George Anna) of Frankford, and Wilbert Pitts of Berlin, Md.; a sister, Margot Tingle Wise (Robert) of Wilmington; uncle, Robert Purnell of Berlin; two aunts, Kathleen Purnell of Millsboro, and Naomi Westcott of Frankford; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 10, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where the viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
