Adrianna Kollar, 16, a dedicated member of the local Girl Scout Troop 1150, achieved the highest honor in girl scouting June 2, by earning the prestigious Gold Award for her four-season pollinator garden.
This accolade, which is awarded to fewer than 6% of all Girl Scouts annually, recognizes extraordinary leadership, dedication and community impact.
“I wanted to build this garden because pollinators, bees specifically, are declining at a rapid rate all around the country due to population growth and loss of farmland,” Adrianna said.
She is scheduled to receive the award in November, but in the meantime, the garden can be seen at the property owned by the Bethel United Methodist Church, 401 Market St., Lewes.

Ray Davis, director of youth and family ministries at Bethel United Methodist Church, gives a short speech as Adrianna Kollar stands in the back.

Dizza Whaley, associate director of programs and the Gold Award staff liaison for the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay, congratulates Adrianna Kollar.
